Our client, Bradbeers Department Store, operates from four main sites, in three towns on the south coast of England. They are proud of the long history of service to the area and strive to uphold the traditions of service, honesty and attention to detail that have enabled them to trade for over 180 years. Independent retailing on the High Street still motivates the company’s plans today and they continue to enjoy popularity as a local department store.
Expansion and development are always at the forefront of their mind, and they are now looking for a strong, hands on and dynamic Store Manager to run a new department store opening in the centre of the historic city of Salisbury, Wiltshire. Bradbeers is reopening the former Debenhams department store, 57,000 sq. ft stocked featuring aspirational and household brands within the fashion, cosmetics and homeware departments
The ideal candidate will have a strong commercial focus and will be able to confidently deliver results in sales and profit, merchandising, customer experience and employee engagement.
As this will be a new Bradbeers store, the successful candidate will be expected to play a key role in organising the store opening in October; employment commencement is June 2023 – getting the store ready, recruitment, training, stock receiving, store set up and merchandising, PR.

Store Manager, the role:
- Delivering world class service as the store’s leading brand ambassador
- Reviewing performance of all selling areas to maximise sales and profit
- Ensuring exceptional standards in housekeeping, cleanliness and visual merchandising are upheld throughout the store
- Evaluating the financial performance of the store
- Maintaining appropriate staffing levels within budget
- Optimising stockholding through application of SWAN unit stock control
- Maintaining stock security and theft prevention
- Promoting the store within the local community
- Collaborating with the property manager with all aspects of the building
- Overseeing all health and safety compliance standards
- Celebrating team/individual success
Store Manager, the person:
- Previous experience of retail store management is essential
- Market and commercial awareness
- Experience of maximising profitability and driving sales
- Thorough knowledge of the recruitment and induction process
- Excellent performance management skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Strong teamwork ethics
- Supportive and flexible
