About the job
Our assistant manager role requires a confident individual, who is comfortable in training new staff, and managing existing staff through encouragement and guidance. The role requires proficiency with numbers and reconciling cash, and crucially an enthusiasm to take responsibility for ensuring the shop is always sufficiently staffed and open during our opening times of 10am-10pm 7 days per week.
You will need to be comfortable with periods of lone-working, as well as working as an integral part of the team. The role requires individuals with the ability to carry out the physical aspects such as taking in deliveries and merchandising the stores, and a drive to ensure the store meets high presentation standards and is always fully compliant.
Our store is a part of the local community and we operate 12 hours per day, 7 days a week. You will be able to work an array of shift patterns across the month, working to know the customer base and getting to know our regular customers.
What we are looking for
We are looking for individuals with the ability to:
- Work in partnership with the Store Manager
- Take responsibility for recruitment, and ensuring the store is fully staffed during opening hours including arranging holiday and sickness cover.
- Be proficient in reconciling cash and correcting till mistakes.
- Work off your own initiative and to high standards.
- Thrive in customer facing role
- Enjoy supporting a team
- Have a willingness to learn
Requirements
For this role experience in a retail team leader, supervisory or management role is required.
You must be flexible and comfortable with the hours our businesses trade, lone working, the physical aspects of the role.
You must be willing to take responsibility for staff management, ensuring the required number of staff are present during the opening hours, and arranging last minute sickness cover where required.
