One position of 27 hours basic a week this will include every weekend

your basic shifts will be as follows

  • Thursday 3pm to 10 pm
  • Friday 3pm to 10pm
  • Saturday 3pm to 10pm
  • Sunday 3pm to 9pm

flexibly will be need with the week shifts to help cover other staff

Part of the post office screening will include a financial check and a DBS check.

This is a lone working position so you will have to be self-motivated and be able to open (7am) and close (10pm) the store

As well as working on a post Office local counter you will be required to work on a shop retail counter that are located side by side and also be required to fill and clean the shop when not serving customers

This is a fast paced demanding job.

Post Office counter clerks

The post office provides a wide range of products and services. If you've got good numerical skills and enjoy dealing with customers, this job could be ideal for you. In this job, you would need to handle cash and information efficiently. You would need good communication skills. You would also need to be able to work quickly and accurately.

Our post office is situated within a convenience store and this role will require you to work between both the post office and the shop. This role will also involve long periods of being on your feet!

You will also have to pass a DBS and finance check before you will be able to work on the post office

Responsibilities and Duties

As a Post Office counter clerk your day-to-day duties would include:

  • Selling stamps and dealing with letters and parcels.
  • Paying out pensions and benefits.
  • Accepting bill payments.
  • Selling travel insurance and foreign currency.
  • Making sure the books balance at the end of the day.
  • You will be involved in selling and advising customers on a wider range of products as well.

Qualifications and Skills

To be a Post Office counter clerk you should have:

  • The ability to promote and sell products to customers.
  • The ability to handle cash and information responsibly.
  • Good numerical skills.
  • The ability to work quickly and accurately in a very busy environment.
  • A good memory for forms and services.
  • A patient and helpful manner.
  • Good communication skills for understanding customer needs and explaining services.

Job Types: Part-time, Permanent
Part-time hours: 27 per week

Salary: From £10.00 per hour
