Players Publishing Limited
Full Time London, England 32000 - 60000 GBP ANNUAL Today
Job description

About the company

Players Publishing provides high-quality content across both print and digital media, specifically aimed at the gambling sector.

We are a successful media company, with a range of publications reporting on the global gambling industry through our signature brands Gambling Insider and Gaming America.

We are looking for an experienced full-time Staff Writer to join our professional, industry-leading editorial team on a long-term contract.

About the role

Your duties would include, but not be limited to, the following:

  • Sourcing and writing several daily news stories for the publication's website.
  • Becoming a reliable part of the team, able to break news before the competition and identify a must-not-miss news item.
  • Constantly keeping in touch with and interviewing the industry’s biggest CEOs and key figures.
  • Writing features and other editorial content for our industry-leading bi-monthly magazine, which is sent to C-Level executives across the world, as well as being distributed at the industry’s biggest trade shows.
  • Writing regular features and other editorial content for a range of our supplement issues.
  • Contributing content for – and helping to proofread – our weekly newsletter.
  • Maintaining and expanding a solid contact base across the industry and constantly building on industry knowledge.

What we can offer

  • A bustling journalism environment, in which the successful applicant can grow and develop.
  • The ability to progress within the company for the right candidate.
  • The opportunity to interview some of the industry’s leading and most successful executives.
  • The chance to be part of a thriving sector, full of genuine talking points, which is the perfect setting for writers and reporters to flourish.
  • Guidance, mentoring and the chance to become part of a ‘work family.’

Essential requirements

The successful applicant will:

  • Have experience in a full-time journalism role or regular freelance writing.
  • Possess strong news writing ability, and the ability to write concisely and quickly – without speed coming at the expense of quality, but also being able to break news without any delays.
  • Be a persistent worker who is prepared to go the extra mile and takes thorough care over their work.
  • The journalistic desire to get to a story first and beat the competition – which is what we pride ourselves on here.
  • Excellent interviewing skills and the ability to write features/analysis pieces.
  • Knowing your ‘yours’ from your ‘you’res’ – with very strong attention to detail.
  • Basic understanding of data and financial reporting.

Desirable experience

  • Previous industry experience
  • Interest in gambling or the hunger to learn a new industry

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
