An exciting and rare opportunity has become available to be part of our growing, vibrant, and progressive nursing team on Ellerbeck Ward, Workington Hospital. We are seeking to recruit Registered Nurses (Adult), with active NMC registration (or working towards) to work on our busy and rewarding 16 bedded community rehabilitation ward.
You will assess, plan, deliver and evaluate nursing care, providing the prescribed nursing care without supervision. You will also contribute to the development and evaluation of nursing practice within the department and ward area, as well as providing nursing care in accordance with local policies, procedures and guidelines and comply with NMC code of professional conduct.
Applications are invited from highly motivated, flexible and enthusiastic individuals who have experience of working as a student nurse or as a qualified staff nurse within the NHS or equivalent.
Ellerbecks current shift pattern consists of 12.5 hour day & 12.5 hour night shifts
- To prioritise referrals & manage workload.
- To delivery scheduled & unscheduled care according to work rotas.
- To assess, monitor & continually evaluate risk management of situation & environment for both patient/carer/family and staff & deal with safety issues as identified.
- To assess, deliver & evaluate all aspects of clinical nursing care based on best practice.
- Use of equipment/technology to aid appropriate assessment of patient condition & delivery of treatment .
- To carry out a range of clinical duties that involve dealing with body fluids e.g. venepuncture, wound dressings, catheterisation.
- To undertake & obtain samples for diagnostic purposes e.g. venepuncture, wound swabs, urinary and faecal sampling.
- Ability to cannulate patients & administer IV medication as prescribed & management of central venous lines.
- To support and educate patients/carers in promoting independence and rehabilitation.
- To deliver care and promote comfort for patients who are terminally ill following recognised care pathway.
- To have sound knowledge base of medication and effects on conditions.
- To be responsible for appropriate and cost effective nurse prescribing.
- To administer medications, reviewing and monitoring effects.
- To communicate closely with patients and all parties involved in delivery of services.
- To order and ensure effective management of specialist nursing equipment.
- To ensure care is delivered within national frameworks.

Standard Check: £18 + Administration cost of £3.85 = £21.85. Deducted at £6.85 from 1st month salary and £5 deducted from salary over following 3 months.
Enhanced Check: £38 + administration cost of £3.90 = £41.90. Deducted at £11.90 from 1st month salary and £10 deducted from salary over following 3 months.
