An exciting opportunity has arisen to work in the University of Southampton’s outstanding Sport and Wellbeing Team as a Lifeguard - Sport Operations Assistant. We have a several locations including the signature Jubilee Sports Centre, Mayflower Gym, Wide Lane Sports Ground and the Watersports Centre, which are open to students, staff and members of the wider community. With the University of Southampton recently committing to investing more than £40million in our sports facilities, we offer an extensive range of sport, leisure classes and courses that are available to our customers from 07:00 to 22:00 every day of the week. We require sports professionals to provide a consistently high-quality sports and leisure service to our customers all year round.
The role
As a Lifeguard you will be part of a highly motivated and organised Sport and Wellbeing team responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient daily operation of the facilities. Based at the Jubilee Sports Centre on Highfield Campus, our Lifeguard roles are primarily responsible for working poolside as a lifeguard, but also spend time dealing with customer queries, preparing equipment, ensuring health and safety procedures are being following, and being an ambassador for active and fitness lifestyles at the University of Southampton.
We encourage applications from those looking for a full time or part time role. You will be working set hour working patterns, full time is equivalent to 36 hours a week averaged over a number of weeks.
About you
We are seeking professional, motivated, and proactive individuals, who are brilliant team players. Our roles require strong customer service skills, as you may be the first point of contact dealing with a diverse range of people and situations. You will be responsible for health and safety of all pool users and need to always act professionally and safely.
The National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) is essential; however we will consider those currently working towards the NPLQ qualification.
This role is subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check which will be conducted during the offer process.

With a competitive starting salary of £23,149 per annum, there is an additional 10% uplift added shift allowance.
