Euroline Shipping is an independent shipping agency covering the North East of Scotland and beyond.
We have an exciting opportunity for a strongly motivated individual to become a Trainee Ships Agent and develop an established career path within the marine industry. Reporting to the Agency Supervisor, you will be responsible for undertaking daily agency visits to vessels while in port and dealing with requests from vessels, their offices and charterers.
This position participates in an on call rota which includes weekend and bank holiday working when on call, covering the ports of Aberdeen, Montrose, Peterhead and Fraserburgh and as such, the applicant must have a full clean driving licence.
To succeed in this role you will require to adapt, learn to expect the unexpected, pro-actively problem solve and maintain strong lines of communication, both internally and externally.
The role is open to an already experienced Ships Agent looking for a new challenge.
Key responsibilities include:
· Actioning all vessel requests for equipment and supplies.
· Preparing and handling of important documentation.
· Preparation, completion and despatch of routine HMRC and ship’s cargo documentation.
· Inputting, retrieving and reporting of data using computerised systems, ensuring accuracy and appropriate presentation style.
· Supervising the discharge and loading of general cargo ships.
· Participating in the continuous improvement of customer service, processes, and cost effectiveness.
· Ensuring the continuous adherence to, and improvement of, safety and environmental performance and compliance to all laws, regulations, and industry standards/codes.
· Presenting a positive image of the company through first class customer service delivery.
· Proactively assisting colleagues and undertaking ad hoc duties, as required.
Minimum Competencies (Skills, Knowledge and Behaviours):
· Customer focused, ideally with a customer service background.
· Ability to think on feet, prioritise and problem solve.
· Accustomed to working effectively in a fast-paced environment, adapting to changing workloads where high standards are not compromised under pressure.
· Ability to work outside in all weathers.
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills both verbal and in writing.
· Ability to work stand-alone while a positive contributor to the wider team.
· Strong attention to detail with excellent planning & organising skills.
· Computer literate with well-developed IT skills across the Microsoft suite.
· Strong organisational skills and a self-motivated attitude
· Effective communication skills.
· Ability to work flexible hours with some weekend and night work on a rota system.
FULL CLEAN DRIVING LICENCE IS ESSENTIAL
