Medacs Healthcare is looking for a Specialty Doctor in Emergency Medicine interested in joining a very friendly mid-sized department based at the NHS Trust situated in northwest England.
The Trust will be supporting those wishing to apply for Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR).
Salary scale: £50,373 to £78,759 per annum
Hours: Full Time, 12 Programmed Activities
Contract type: Permanent or Fixed term
The posts will provide the successful applicant with the support and training needed to successfully complete all aspects of the CESR route towards specialist registration in Emergency Medicine. Doctors will gain experience in the full range of the emergency care of patients in a thriving Emergency Department that sees around 80,000 patients per year. Secondments will be offered to support relevant education and training needs. Secondments include Acute Medicine, Anaesthetics, ITU and Children's Emergency Medicine.
The Emergency Department is led by a consultant body with a wide range of backgrounds and special interests and includes current FRCEM examiners. In addition to the secondments above, requests for experience in areas of special interest are actively encouraged and will be accommodated wherever possible. The Trust have the opportunity to offer experience in Prehospital Medicine, Forensic Medicine, Industrial medicine and Disaster Relief medicine.
Upon commencement of the post, the Speciality Doctor will be assigned an ED consultant Educational Supervisor who will work with the appointee and agree an individually tailored set of education and training needs. The post holder and consultant supervisor will meet on a regular basis in order to review and support career progression and specific education needs. This consultant mentor will work with you to develop the clinical and managerial skills required to build a portfolio of evidence to support a CESR application.
The Speciality Doctor's duties will cover the whole range of clinical responsibilities, working equally in both Minors and Majors. You will be expected to provide a significant personal commitment to the assessment, treatment and disposal of patients attending the Emergency Department.
Requirements:
- GMC registration with a license to practice
- At least one of ATLS, ALS or APLS
- Completed at least year's full time post graduate experience (or equivalent gained on a part time or flexible basis), at least two of which will be in a specialty training programme in a relevant specialty or as a fixed term specialty trainee or shall have equivalent experience and competencies.
- Prior experience of working in the NHS
