Band 6 – Specialist Radiographer (Rotational Positions)
This is an excellent opportunity for you to join our teams in NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde Hospitals. We are recruiting within the South West Sector (Diagnostics Directorate) seeking rotational band 6 Radiographers.
Band 6 Specialist Radiographer
Within the South West Sector there is cross site rotational model enabling staff to develop a breadth and depth of knowledge and skills across scheduled and unscheduled care. Rotation includes a selection of modalities including Plain Film, CT, MRI and Interventional radiology, at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital and one of the following spoke sites including, Institute for Neurological Sciences, Gartnavel General Hospital (inc. West of Scotland Beatson Oncology Centre), New Victoria Hospital, West Glasgow ACH.
The QEUH is the largest acute hospital in NHSGGC and the designated Major Trauma Centre for the West of Scotland within the Major Trauma Network supporting services with 10 DR Plain Film Rooms across 2 floors, 2 Fluoroscopy units, 10 Mobile Image Intensifiers and 6 Mobile X-ray Units. In addition the QEUH is equipped with 4 CT scanners, 2 MRI (1.5T) – Wide bore and 4 interventional labs (2 hybrid).
The INS is a regional (tertiary referral) centre which lies within the QEUH campus supporting neurology, neurosurgery, stroke thrombectomy, MaxFax and the national spinal injuries service, supporting services with 1 DR plain film room, 1 Oral and maxillofacial room with OPT and Cephalometric equipment, 3 mobile image intensifiers and 3 mobile x-ray units. In addition the INS is equipped with CT and MRI (1.5T and 3T), the Interventional Neuro Radiology provides coiling, stroke thrombectomy and other interventional services (soon provided with 2 new state of the art bi-plane interventional labs).
Gartnavel General Hospital and West Glasgow ACH lie within close proximity to the west end of Glasgow, supporting services with 5 DR x-ray rooms, 2 CT Scanners, 2 MRI (1.5T) (1 located within West of Scotland Beatson Oncology Centre), 1 Interventional Radiology suite, mobile image intensifiers and mobile x-ray units.
New Victoria Hospital is located in the Southside of Glasgow which operates as an ambulatory care hospital, supporting services with 4 DR x-ray rooms, 1 fluoroscopy suite, 1 CT scanner, 2 MRI scanners (1.5T) and 3 mobile image intensifiers.
We actively promote opportunity for further study at a post-graduate level leading to MSc Diagnostic Imaging in CT, MRI or MSc Advanced Practice, allowing you to underpin your key area of interest whilst enhancing patient care, experience and your knowledge at Glasgow Caledonian University, (NHSGGC operated a staff bursary each year to assist those who wish to progress into post graduate study). Within the department and the wider MDTs we engage and participate in quality improvement groups which we encourage staff of all levels to get involved in where appropriate. NHSGGC radiographers host a CPD channel on Microsoft Teams where there are weekly CPD sessions SOR accredited, all sessions are recorded and can be listened to retrospectively.
It is essential you have a Degree in Radiography / DCR, with current HCPC registration and minimum 2 years post graduate experience. The hours of these posts are worked 5/7, 365 days per year including public holiday, extended day working and on call from home. Successful candidates will benefit from a structured training and induction programme.
