Job description
To support the Department of Occupational Health and Wellbeing in the delivery of occupational health services to Kings College Hospital NHS Trust and associated external clients. The post holder will ensure that a proactive comprehensive Occupational Health Service is provided and is delivered to the highest standard.
The post holder is also required to work as part of a multidisciplinary team, to implement and monitor policies, standards and guidelines within the King’s College Hospital NHS Trust Department of Occupational Health and Wellbeing and act as a leader with in the department in terms of supporting and developing the team with a focus on continuous learning and development.

- To undertake clinical activities as directed by the Service Manager, Principal Nurse Advisor or their nominated deputy to include – vaccination clinics, health screening, case management, health surveillance work, environmental visits/risk assessments, attendance management, health promotion activities (and presentations), ergonomic assessments/training as required and become involved in corporate inductions or clinical projects as required.
- To use the Occupational Health database for the entering of clinical activity, ensuring that information is updated in a timely and accurate manner, to include EPP and non-EPP clinical activity and daily immunisation activity.
- To act as an autonomous practitioner and provide professional advice on Occupational Health issues.
- To ensure the effective delivery of a work protection immunisation programme for King’s College Hospital staff and other external contracts as required.
- To ensure an effective employment screening service is in place which advises management and Human Resources of applicant’s fitness and Disability Discrimination Act requirements.
- To undertake sickness absence reviews, and advise on disability in regards to the Equality Act in line with the Trust’s sickness absence policy, promoting equality and valuing diversity.
- Act as a specialist resource and advisory service to King’s College Hospital NHS Trust and managers as well as external contract stakeholders.

- To provide peripatetic clinic cover in relation to external contracts as directed by the Service Manager
- To work in accordance with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct, maintaining professional standards at all times.
- To implement departmental policies, processes, SOPs and clinical operating guidelines as directed by the Service Manager or their nominated deputy.
- To contribute to or lead on any Wellbeing or health education/health promotion initiatives as directed by the Head of Nursing.
- To participate in all benchmarking and quality audits within the department such as SEQOHS.
- To work with managers and employees to develop understanding and application of current Health and Safety Legislation.
- Willingness to work at multiple Trust or client sites on a rotational basis if required.
- To be able to advise managers and clients on procedures when in contact with and in relation to infectious disease, seeking advice from senior colleagues as required.
- To ensure that Clinical Guidelines are implemented and to be actively involved in auditing practice in conjunction with Senior Specialist Nurse Advisor.
