Job description
Band 5/6 Biomedical Scientist – Blood Sciences.
Our multidisciplinary Blood Sciences laboratory is looking for an HCPC qualified Biomedical Science or a graduate with HCPC registration (or pending registration) with NHS experience as a Biomedical Scientist to join a dedicated team in a modern department, providing a high-quality service.
We are a multidisciplinary Blood Sciences laboratory; therefore those with a strong interest in cross discipline training for Clinical Biochemistry, Haematology and Transfusion are strongly encouraged to apply. However, those with skills in haematology / transfusion or biochemistry only with a willingness to cross-train should still consider applying. Our key objectives as a department are to deliver a full multidisciplinary Blood Sciences workforce at the Hinchingbrooke site and to attain full UKAS ISO: 15189 accreditation.
This is an opportunity to work in a friendly and progressive laboratory that provides excellent training and development opportunities. Specialist training if required can be provided from the Hub laboratory at Peterborough.
The 24/7 service is delivered to Hinchingbrooke Hospital using Sysmex haematology and coagulation, Roche Cobas chemistry and Grifols transfusion instrumentation. All staff are contractually obliged to participate in 24/7 working.
Individuals who are currently working towards completion of a suitable IBMS Specialist Portfolio are also encouraged to apply – please state this clearly in your application. The Trust offers pay progression from band 5 to 6 upon successful completion of a specialist portfolio.
Our teams work hard to be flexible and promote a health work/home life balance and so, agile working options are automatically considered for all roles within the Trust.
We welcome and encourage applications from people of all backgrounds. We particularly encourage applications from disabled, Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) and candidates from our local communities.
Your package with us includes a lot more than just your pay and here are a few of the additional benefits that are available to you as an employee:
- Access to the NHS Pension Scheme
- Relocation allowance in line with the Trust policy
- Generous Holiday Entitlement, starting at 27 days a year (for full time workers) plus bank/public holidays
