We are adding to our team of dynamic SPED teachers at Summa Academy. Our SPED Teachers are instrumental in helping us build our premier Non-Public School in Pleasanton, CA and Summa classrooms in the Tri-Valley . If you are a Mod/Severe teacher who is looking for an amazing opportunity, this is for you. Our NPS teachers have caseloads of up 8-10 students with at least 2 RBTs and full time BCBAs on site. This is a great opportunity for teachers that are interested in learning more about weaving ABA into their classroom or pursuing their BCBA. We are truly dedicated to building a top-notch team.
General:
- Embody Summa Academy’s core values

- Follow all policies/procedures relative to implementing Specialized Academic Instruction based on the principles of ABA
- Follow and uphold all Summa Academy policies and procedures as outlined in the handbook, policies and procedure documents and any additional communications with regards to policies and procedures
- Provides support for the instruction program for students with disabilities
- Knowledgeable in Instruction in all content areas
- Provide a learning environment that allows for individual differences and respect for the dignity and worth of each student
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Implements adopted Moderate/Severe curriculum for students in the classroom.
- Ensures all lesson plans are aligned to students’ IEP goals and standards.
- Implements Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for the purpose of meeting the individual needs of each student.
- Provides direction to all support staff assigned to the classroom.
- Provides updates and consistent communication to families and staff.
- Evaluates progress on students’ IEP goals for the purpose of reporting student progress and present levels.
- Coordinates services to students for the purpose of ensuring efficient instructions and an effective cohesive program.
- Implements all behavioral supports and Behavioral Intervention Plan (BIP) reflected in each student’s IEP.
- Implements Evidence-Based Practices for students with Autism and other developmental disabilities.
- Teaches/instructs students for the purpose of ensuring successful progress towards student’s goals and objectives and maintains an on-going data collection system to report progress.
- Schedules services for students for the purpose of providing efficient and effective services for students.
- Develops and implements modifications and intervention strategies based on student need.
- Ability to assess students regularly, using informal and formal assessments.
- Perform other job duties as assigned
You must have or be working towards a clear California Mod/Severe Special Education credential.
