Manages the daily operations of spiritual care services of a single hospital, ensuring adequate service levels and quality of service on a 24-hour basis (as determined appropriate by local leadership).
Essential Responsibilities:
- Manages the daily operations of spiritual care services of a single hospital, ensuring adequate service levels and quality of service on a 24-hour basis (as determined appropriate by local leadership).
- Using interdisciplinary and cross-cultural approaches develops and oversees high quality spiritual care services of diverse faith traditions to patients, family and staff.
- Assesses spiritual care services on a regular basis to promote highest quality approaches, delivery of service and efficiencies, and to make changes as needed.
- May supervise Staff Chaplains, in addition to any lay volunteers and chaplain interns.
- Provides spiritual support and counseling to patients, family members/significant others, and staff.
- Interacts daily with staff and interdisciplinary team members to formulate and evaluate patient care needs.
- Provides documentation in the patient care record.
- Serves on Medical Center Committees as required by hospital policies and procedures or as requested.
- Assures accreditation compliance of the chaplaincy service.
- Coordinates, supervises and evaluates lay volunteers and the ecumenical interfaith chaplaincy program.
- Serves as a liaison between the Medical Center, local congregations and religious institutions.
- Forms a steering committee of local clergy to support the Chaplaincy program.
- Oversees the use and maintenance of the Meditation Room.
- Conducts in-service training for staff in regard to providing spiritual support.
- Conducts services for patients, as requested.
- Participates in appropriate professional associations for personal and professional growth.

Basic Qualifications:
- Minimum three (3) years of full-time or five (5) years of part-time pastoral counseling in hospital or death and dying experience.
Education
- Graduate theogical degree (or equivalent graduate degree) from an accredited institution.
- Four units of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) completed.
- College of Pastoral Supervision & Psychotherapy Certification OR Board Certified Chaplain Certification from Nat Assoc of Catholic Chaplains OR National Association of Jewish Chaplains Certified Member OR National Association of Catholic Chaplains Certification
- Ordainment/Endorsement of a recognized religious/spiritual body.
Demonstrated ability to minister with persons of diverse cultural and religious backgrounds.- Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership Environment.
