About this Opportunity
Lloyds Banking Group is the UK’s biggest Retail, Digital and Mobile bank with over 30 million customers and a big responsibility to help Britain Prosper. We’re in the middle of a £3bn investment into our People, Platforms and Data as part of our strategy to build the Bank of the Future and grow sustainably.

About the role
As a Solution Architect within the lab you would have a responsibility for shaping the strategic roadmap for the lab and our application / infrastructure estate. Working alongside our Enterprise Architects, Lead Solution Architect and Engineers you’ll also engage in hands on design activity for key initiatives and teams, ensuring the right solutions are put in place to modernise and future proof our estate.
As well as guiding and communicating our enterprise Vision through Solution Design, you'll play a significant part in keeping our customers safe, through smart, pragmatic design choices that can be built, modified, and operated in a fast-paced agile environment. Your contribution will be instrumental to our strategy of simplifying, modernising, and de-risking the Working Capital technology landscape, enabling the Bank of the Future and ultimately driving value for customers and shareholders. This is a key role at the financial heart of LBG, underpinning the long-term sustainability and integrity of the organisation.
Encouraging the right culture is key and you’ll embrace a “Fail Fast, Learn Faster” approach. Experimenting new ways of engineering and adopting a test and learn approach, with a focus on learning and continuous improvement.
What you will need:
  • Experience designing innovative solutions in an increasingly digital world - understanding how modern software applications are built and delivered is key.
  • Experience of designing solutions for demanding Business colleagues, demonstrating diligence, insight and willingness to challenge - this leadership role will provide direction for our Lab architects and engineers, blending domain knowledge, deep technical expertise, and coaching cross-disciplinary feature teams to deliver high quality maintainable software.
  • Good knowledge of infrastructure and security architecture practices and concerns.
  • Have played an active part in architecture and design governance.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively translate sophisticated concepts into easily understandable language supported by good social skills to lead groups and negotiate and build consensus.
  • Proven track record of assessing business needs and translating them into relevant solutions.
  • Experience in delivering change involving 3rd parties, collaborating and working together to achieve a shared goal.
Ideally you’ll have previous career experience in Software Engineering however this is not essential.
  • Sound understanding of Cloud methodologies and experience designing applications through containerised microservices-based architectures.
  • TOGAF or equivalent qualification / experience.
