Capex & Stock Accountant
Location: Central Support, Hemel Hempstead.
Job Type: Hybrid, Permanent.
Salary: £50,000 per annum
What we need in a nutshell:
Reporting into the Senior Finance Manager, you will be required to own the Capex & Stock accounting processes, including oversight of new and existing projects and reviewing actual costs to budget. Additionally, you will be responsible for the month end processes and will be the go-to person for those in the business needing to understand Capex and Stock related matters. You will also be responsible for the preparation of the reporting on Capex and Stock to the Senior Executives and partnering with the wider business and commercial teams.

What you’ll be doing:
- Responsible for the preparation of monthly balance sheet reconciliations of fixed assets at all parks, and central office, on a timely basis and ensure that all transactions are accounted for correctly in accordance with FRS 102.
- Prepare the relevant journal entries for any re-allocations between asset classes and the monthly depreciation charge, which is clearly supported by tangible evidence and able to be audited.
- Monthly balance sheet reconciliations and journal postings completed on a timely basis, in line with the month end timetable.
- Provide monthly board reporting to senior executives detailing the movements in capex and analysing actual movements vs budget, providing commentary on any unexpected variances.
Skills, experience, and qualities you’ll need:
If you can demonstrate the following skills, experience, and qualities, let’s hear from you:
- Qualified accountant ACA/ACCA or equivalent.
- 3+ years’ experience within a successful finance team.
- Business partnering experience is an advantage.
- Preparing monthly reporting documents, including slides for board packs, tailored to the relevant stakeholder.
- Good initiative and ability to challenge existing processes and identify improvements.
- Ability to work under pressure, providing accurate high-quality work under tight deadlines.
- Good communication skills.
- Strong organisational skills.
