Where does the role sit within Lloyds Banking Group?
We are on a mission to build the bank of the future, and we need your help to do it! Continuing our extensive transformation programme, we're redefining what a bank is from the inside out. Our technology, our culture, and our mind-set is changing to craft a true engineering-led organisation.
You will be part of Everyday Banking in Consumer Relationships Platform working in the Vault Banking Products lab. The lab is focusing on building new core banking platform that will support servicing our customers through multiple channels and will enable the bank to create new innovative products for our customers using cutting edge cloud based technology platform.
So what exactly would I be responsible for?
As an Senior Software Engineer of our team, you will be:
- Working with the most modern technology to deliver innovative solutions for our customers
- Hands-on designing and developing the new banking platform as well as integrating with heritage banking systems
- Working in an agile environment, alongside colleagues from both LBG and third party companies, both on and off-shore
- Mentoring junior team members including code reviews, problem solving, development and code standards including security standards
- Working within a strict QE-led methodology, delivering high quality software supported by fully automated testing frameworks
- Creating opportunities for your own learning and growth, as well as sharing finding with your peers
- Deploying developed applications using set tools and pipelines to all environments including production hosting on container based cloud platforms.
What are we looking for from those who apply?
The successful candidate for the Senior Software Engineer role will be able to demonstrate deep technical expertise, experience in building banking platforms, ability to work independently and to mentor junior team members including development standards and quality of code.
We’re looking for enthusiastic, proactive and dedicated engineers who are keen to make a difference and deliver at speed.
A must have skills:
- Core Java development skills - At least 5 years of experience
- Microservices architecture
- Experience in Cloud Applications
- Good understanding of design patterns and build activities across the SDLC including unit testing, system testing, integration, security and performance testing
- Relentless focus on delivering business value through sound engineering methods and principles
- Working experience with Kafka for event driven communication between services
Additional bonus:
- Docker based container development and deployment on Kubernetes
- Thought Machine Vault
- Understanding of CI/CD methodology and tools such as Jenkins, GitHub, Spinnaker etc
- Banking applications development
- Experience in Automated testing and TDD
- Experience with Software Engineering collaboration tools such as Jira, Confluence etc.
- Experience of working within an Agile scrum team
