Job Title: Kitchen Assistant
Pay rate: £10.75
Working hours: This job involves working early mornings, and weekends. Shifts will be scheduled between 6:30am - 4:30pm(subject to change). Ideally we are looking for candidate who can work 30 hours minimum.
Job purpose:
The role involves extensive food preparation such as ingredients preps, assembling dishes, helping with deliveries, ensuring enough stock, and keeping all working areas organised and clean. You will be mainly working in a closed kitchen, working closely with the rest of the team to prepare and produce high quality food products. Experience would be an advantage, but if you do not have experience, we can train you on the job- so we only ask that you come to work with a positive attitude and willingness to learn.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Food preparation for customers and for staff;
- Preparing ingredients for making sauces i.e. Japanese curry sauce
- Complete stock taking paperwork on a periodic basis
- Minimise wastage of the food and products;
- Being a strong team player and friendly to your colleagues and management;
- Other tasks that might be associated with your role.
- This role requires you to stand for your whole shift (excluding breaks)
- Lifting, bending, carrying and stretching on a regular basis
Essential skills:
- Ability to work under pressure in a busy environment.
- Passion for working in the kitchen/counter and delivering excellent food quality.
- Attention to detail.
- Excellent communication with colleagues of all levels.
- An understanding of Food Safety standards.
- Ability to multitask with a "hands on" approach to work.
Desirable/ beneficial skills:
- Have experience in the hospitality sector
- Have kitchen/counter experience.
- Experience within a Japanese restaurant/ production is an advantage.
- Knowledge of Japanese food and culture
A two hour trial shift will be required before employment is considered.
