Job Description Summary
Aims to deliver the highest quality customer driven software whilst continually challenging, motivating, mentoring and supporting their engineering teams. They will work in cross-disciplinary teams delivering exciting customer driven solutions and high quality software and showcase excellent interpersonal and communication skill whilst efficiently working across the project life cycle to ensure software operates as intended. This is a leadership level role and will blend both deep domain and technical expertise within a feature team and great passion for coaching and developing people in a “player-coach” model.

Location: Edinburgh (Hybrid)
Salary & Benefits: £61,911 - £72,229 plus annual personal bonus, 15% employer pension contribution (when you put in 6%), 4% flexible cash pot, private medical insurance, 30 days holiday plus bank holidays.

This is an exciting time in the Bulk Annuities Lab with an opportunity to lead in the transition from a Business Managed Application process to an industrialised Software as a Service solution that supports a high-reaching business growth target.

Here’s where you’ll make a difference:
As a Software Engineer, you’ll play a key role in our continual transformation journey by:
- Focusing on the technical delivery of change activity and projects related to Retirements Bulk Annuities, supporting the ongoing development of a world class business journey to enable an ongoing growth and efficiency in the business.
- Supporting the management of, curation of and improvements to the
- Leading in the configuration / development of technologies and platforms that support the Retirement Pillar and specifically Bulk Annuities Lab.
- Utilising effective change management disciplines to enable successful project delivery. Creating effective working relationships and collaboration with stakeholders in the delivery of all change activity
- Working effectively via collaboration supporting the team’s overall objectives, in addition to providing feedback to partner technology firms
- Delivering change by utilising the eco-system and architecture to achieve the efficient delivery of the intended business outcome, balancing the short- and medium-term strategies.
What we need from you:
- have experience and be able to demonstrate system configuration/customisation capability with nCino and/or Salesforce or a similar enterprise technology as technical training could be provided for the right candidate.
- nCino and/or Salesforce Admin/Platform Developer certifications or be willing to achieve certification in the near future.
- Knowledge of Code Management and deployment through a multi-level route to live solution (experience of AutoRabit and GitHub would be an advantage)
- You'll need to be a self-starter and take ownership for delivering a high-quality standard of service, able to work on your own as well as part of the wider Retirement team.
Nice to have?
- Understanding of the Bulk Annuities journey and have a good solid understanding of modern software, cloud and integration solutions.
- Strong technology change experience including relevant regulation and best practices with experience in Agile, DevOps, and Waterfall delivery methodologies.
- Understanding of configurable SaaS software, hosting, APIs, IT security, third party service management
- A sound understanding of multiple IT disciplines (Application, Database, Networks, Data
- Transfer (ETL) etc.)
