Our client is a leading UK driverless vehicle and mobility company expanding internationally and on a mission to find the very best people to be part of our success and join the driverless revolution that will disrupt and transform the world of transport. They are recruiting a Junior Path & Motion Planning Engineer for it's Autonomous Vehicles R&D Team.
You will have real vehicles running in Coventry for testing. You will work with other team members to solve and integrate work from 3 different continents (Europe, Australia, Asia). The team is very diverse, and always look for people with high quality and good grasping of different domains in robotics and outside robotics. Team always urge You to design and give your opinion and request inquisitive, creative minds to solve our challenges.
Roles:
- Participate in the design, implementation and testing of different planning algorithms in autonomous driving including but not limited to search-based methods, sampling-based methods, optimization-based methods, linear-temporal logic, and decision-making under uncertainty
- Contribute to the planning software architecture
- Implement robust and highly readable C++ code
- Communicate with other teams across the autonomous stack to integrate the developed algorithms
- High-level code documentation
Essential requirements:
- BSc required, MSc or PhD degree is preferred in Computer Science, Robotics, Mathematics or related field
- 1.5 + years of experience in robotics and motion planning
- 1.5 + years of C++ software development (Python is a bonus)
- Experience taking projects from problem design through implementation and deployment
- Proven record in the robotics/autonomous vehicle field
- ROS1&2 experience or any other robotics framework
Nice to have requirements:
- Experience working with Non-linear/linear optimal-control (MPC, LQR) and optimisation techniques (Interior-point, Gradient Descent, Lagrange Multipliers, Newton Raphson method, etc.)
- Solid theoretical knowledge of machine learning (and sub-areas) and/or implementations using Pytorch, TensorFlow, Keras, etc.
- Docker, CI/CD experience
- Experience with safety-critical software design
- Experience working in simulation environments
