Job description
Dick White Referrals is one of the UK's leading veterinary specialist centres that provides secondary and tertiary referral-only specialist veterinary care for dogs and cats across the south and east of England. We believe passionately in caring for our colleagues, because we understand that happy, motivated, and engaged people provide higher standards of care to our patients, their owners, our referring colleagues and each other. We strive every day to be excellent in everything that we do, and we recognise that developing deep levels of trust between each other and with our clients is paramount to our ongoing success.
DWR was founded in 2003 by Professor Dick White and has grown rapidly to become one of the largest, truly multi-disciplinary, Specialist veterinary referral centres in Europe, currently employing 48 specialist veterinary clinicians, residents and 18 interns along with our 250-strong support staff, which includes just over 100 registered veterinary nurses.
We are located only 10 miles from the vibrant and historic university city of Cambridge, with excellent road and rail connections to London, the Midlands, and the stunning East Anglian coast. Stansted airport is also only 30 minutes away by car.
We are proud to provide 24/7 referral-only services for patients across England in anaesthesia and analgesia, cardiology, clinical pathology and histopathology, dermatology, diagnostic imaging, emergency and critical care, internal medicine, neurology and neurosurgery, oncology, ophthalmology, orthopaedic surgery, physiotherapy, and soft tissue surgery. The hospital is fully equipped with surgical, diagnostic and hospitalisation facilities commensurate with a flagship specialist veterinary hospital. We have an onsite reference laboratory with both in-house clinical pathology and diagnostic histopathology, and we also have our own veterinary nurse training academy that currently has 82 students registered. As part of our ongoing drive for excellence, later this year we are due to open a 32,000 ft extension that will double the size of our facilities and create a truly world-class hospital.
