Job description

Directorate: People Services

Contract Type: Permanent
Location: The Council House

Derby has been on a journey continually developing and improving our offer to children, young people and their families. We are proud of our recent Ofsted judgement of Outstanding. In Derby we aren’t complacent about this and recognise that our Social Work workforce are key to this achievement. We operate a Strength Based Practice Model which our Social Workers, Team Managers and Senior Leaders are passionate and knowledgeable about. The workforce understands the needs of children and are skilful in identifying risks and considering the impact they may of on the individual child. We want likeminded Social Workers to join our workforce and become part of Derby’s journey. If this is reflective of the place you’d like to work, please apply.

We are currently seeking a permanent part time Social Worker post (23 hours over 3 days) in the Fieldwork Team at the Integrated Disabled Childrens service. The service supports children and families where there is a child with a moderate to severe Learning Disability. In the Fieldwork Team you will undertake work with children and families at Child In Need, Child Protection and Care Proceedings and support Looked After Children. You may also be required to write section 7 reports for private proceedings and undertake permanency work including Adoption. You will also complete assessments and court applications when applying the Mental Capacity Act where there is a Deprivation of Liberty.
You will be part of an established and supportive team with an experienced Senior Practitioner, have access to regular supervision, peer support and continuing professional development opportunities.

If you’re interested and would want an informal conversation, please call Rebecca Barker Team Manager or Julie Maunder Deputy Head of Service -01332 256988

All employees will normally be appointed to the minimum of the grade for the job. For reasons connected with a particular need of the Council it may be appropriate, subject to approval, to appoint to a higher point in the pay grade.

As part of our safer recruitment checks the successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.

Please be aware that where there are staff within the organisation who are 'at risk' of redundancy, requirements to redeploy to another suitable role will apply and take priority.

Before you complete your application form please read our guidance on filling in your application form.

Quick Tip! Remember to align your personal statement to the Essential Criteria in the Person Specification
