Youth Work Session Worker
HOURS: Vacancy: 1 x 3 hour evening session per week
SALARY: £11 per hour
POSITION AVAILABLE: Thursday evenings from 18:00 - 21:00
FIXED TERM CONTRACT UNTIL JULY 2025 (With continuation subject to funding)

We provide a safe and welcoming space for anyone aged 11 to 19, offering open access sessions alongside targeted youth work. As the only dedicated youth centre in the area our youth workers see approximately 100 young people every week.

We respond to the ever-changing challenges and issues facing young people in our community. Each young person has a different story and we’re passionate about delivering the support and opportunities they deserve and that will enable them to develop and flourish.

We are seeking individuals who have experience of working with young people.

We require individuals with the ability to build positive relationships with young people and encourage & support personal development.

It would be beneficial, but not essential to have previous experience working with young people.

Responsibilities, duties and tasks:

  • To work directly with young people providing a range of positive activities in line with The Ourside Youth Association Vision.
  • Supports the running of activities/projects which may include arts-based, issue based, community/environmental activities and sporting activities
  • To befriend and support individuals in various settings
  • To act as an advocate for young people’s interest
  • To undertake administrative tasks relevant to the delivery of positive activities
  • To promote Equal Opportunities in delivery, access and attitude within work undertaken through The Ourside Youth Association.
  • To assist with a programme of positive activities that promote equality of opportunity, participation and responsibility and that enable positive activities.

General Duties:

  • To understand and adhere to all policies and procedures concerning the Safeguarding of Children and Young people in youth support settings
  • To maintain personal and professional development to meet the changing demands of the job, participate in appropriate training activities as required by Ourside.
  • To undertake such other duties, training and/or hours of work as may be reasonably required and which are consistent with the general level of responsibility of this job.
  • To undertake health and safety duties commensurate with the post and/or as detailed in the Ourside Health and Safety Policy.

Job Type: Part-time
Part-time hours: 3 per week

Salary: £11.00 per hour

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Evesham WR11: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

Experience:

  • youth work: 1 year (preferred)

Work Location: In person
