Job description
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Youth Support Worker to support SEN students in a school/college setting. As a Youth Support Worker, you will play a vital role in empowering and supporting young people facing various challenges. You will work closely with individuals and groups, providing guidance, advocacy, and resources to help them navigate through difficult situations and achieve their goals.
Hours: 08:30 - 3:30/4:30 depending on setting.
We are ideally looking for someone who can commit Monday - Friday, but we have other roles that are open to Monday - Thursday commitment.
- Establish a trusting and supportive relationship with young people, creating a safe and non-judgmental environment.
- Follow individualized support plans based on the SEN needs and goals of each young person.
- Provide guidance, counselling, and emotional support to help young people overcome personal challenges and build resilience.
- Assist young people in accessing educational, vocational, and employment opportunities, as well as community resources.
- Facilitate group activities and workshops on topics such as life skills, conflict resolution, and personal development.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of interactions, progress, and outcomes for each young person.
Requirements:
- Enhanced Child & Adult DBS ideally on Update Service or willing to apply.
- Experience working with young people facing diverse challenges, such as mental health issues, substance abuse, homelessness, or involvement in the justice system would be an advantage.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with young people from different backgrounds.
- Excellent communication and active listening skills, with the ability to provide empathetic support and guidance.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.
