Job description

Directorate: People Services
Hours: 37 Hours a week
Contract Type: Permanent
Location: The Council House

Derby has been on a journey continually developing and improving our offer to children, young people and their families. We are proud of our recent Ofsted judgement of Outstanding. In Derby we aren’t complacent about this and recognise that our Social Work workforce are key to this achievement. We operate a Strength Based Practice Model which our Social Workers, Team Managers and Senior Leaders are passionate and knowledgeable about. The workforce understands the needs of children and are skilful in identifying risks and considering the impact they may of on the individual child. We want likeminded Social Workers to join our workforce and become part of Derby’s journey. If this is reflective of the place you’d like to work, please apply.

We are recruiting across our Reception and Localities Teams. In our Reception Service you would complete Single Assessments, S47 enquires, develop Child In Need Plans and make recommendations on threshold. In our Locality Teams you will undertake work with children and families at Child In Need and Child Protection and Care Proceedings and support Looked After Children.

You will be part of a supportive team, have access to regular supervision, peer support and continuing professional development. If you are newly qualified, you will have development opportunities during your ASYE and further opportunities to develop as an experienced Social Worker.

If you’re interested and would want an informal conversation, please call Margot Summerbridge Principle Social Worker on 01332 640246 or Hannah Rafferty Deputy Head of Service 01132 641107.

As part of our safer recruitment checks the successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.

All employees will normally be appointed to the minimum of the grade for the job. For reasons connected with a particular need of the Council it may be appropriate, subject to approval, to appoint to a higher point in the pay grade.

Please be aware that where there are staff within the organisation who are 'at risk' of redundancy, requirements to redeploy to another suitable role will apply and take priority.

Before you complete your application form please read our guidance on filling in your application form.

Quick Tip! Remember to align your personal statement to the Essential Criteria in the Person Specification
