An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Operations Development Manager to join our team at our Trentham Screwfix site which is our Omni Site.

This challenging and exciting role will appeal to an individual with experience, drive, determination and enthusiasm. This role is designed to drive efficiency, support the growth of proposition and improve service for the end customer.

About the Role

  • This is a senior appointment reporting to the General Manager
  • Giving direction that supports the Senior Management team in ensuring the site runs efficiently and effectively with the ability to deliver long term customer growth plans
  • This role is customer facing, partnering in with Screwfix Development manager so requires strong relationship building skillset
  • Preparing and presenting business cases to the customer to allow capital investment to be secured
  • Governance of the development programme, providing the customer with regular updates on progress and plans.
  • Reviewing the site’s operation, processes, flows and equipment with a view to making continuous efficiency improvements
  • Providing strategic and tactical leadership, taking accountability for the overall planning activity and development of the site both short term and supporting the customers longer term strategic plans (2-5 years)
  • Ensuring effective communication throughout the operation; engaging with the management team and creating a culture of involved change
  • Lead, develop and inspire direct reports to ensure that the team is performance focussed and engaged, so that business goals can be achieved whilst maximising individuals’ potential
  • Support site continuous improvement programmes, identifying opportunities to further improve efficiency and effectiveness
  • Support/lead developmental solutions for the DC through equipment specification, material flow, process design, and site layout
  • Collaboration with internal teams and external vendors to generate cost effective solutions
  • Support the strategic management of third parties, in particular engineering contractors with a view to driving efficiencies and improved service levels

About you

  • Ability to demonstrate experience of Logistics in particular e-com fulfilment is desirable
  • Project management experience is essential
  • Understanding of Process Flow solutions
  • Highly autonomous in your approach with a positive 'can-do' attitude
  • Ability to evaluate processes and understand where automation can improve efficiency within a distribution set up
  • Analytical with the ability to align development plans to short and longer term objectives
  • You will have experience of working closely with clients and developing effective working relationships
  • You should have excellent inter personal skills be able to communicate at all levels professionally and discreetly
  • You must have a proven track record of developing, guiding and engaging a team to deliver exceptional levels of customer service
  • You must have the energy, determination and commitment to operate in an environment where regular customer contact and scrutiny is the norm and effective customer communication is essential
  • Experience of being responsible for managing change projects & process improvements would be desirable
  • Organised and professional with strong written and verbal communication skills

The depot operates over 7 days therefore, it is essential that you are flexible in your approach to work.
