Derby City Council is an innovative and forward-thinking Council, committed to developing practical and proportionate ways of undertaking adult social care assessments, support planning and interventions to enable the residents of Derby to achieve identified outcomes.
An exciting opportunity has arisen enabling the recruitment of a Social Worker to join one of our locality teams. The successful candidate will carry out social care assessments and support customers to create person centred support plans to meet their identified needs. You will be required to undertake safeguarding enquires. This will be working in partnership with customers, carers and partner agencies to develop safety plans, encompassing the principle of making safeguarding personal (MSP). Alongside this, you will also be required to support as a duty social worker on behalf of the team, on a rotational basis.
The successful candidates will be based in the South community support team, working with a customers with a wide range of primary support needs in relation to physical disability, learning disability and older adults with care and support needs.
You will be a qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England. You will need to have excellent communication skills, with the confidence and ability to negotiate and challenge appropriately. You will need to be organised and skilled in managing competing priorities. You will need to have a detailed understanding and experience in working with the Care Act 2014 and Mental Capacity Act 2005, utilising a strength-based approach in supporting customers and carers. You will be able to work and manage a case load independently and also work as part of a team.

All employees will normally be appointed to the minimum of the grade for the job. For reasons connected with a particular need of the Council it may be appropriate, subject to approval, to appoint to a higher point in the pay grade.
