Social Purpose & Sustainability Manager

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Social Purpose & Sustainability (SP&S) Manager to join our award-winning SP&S team, part of the YBS People Division.

The team oversees the delivery of the Society's Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) strategy, along with the implementation and delivery of our social purpose and community activity.

You will be key to helping to lead YBS on its journey to becoming a top-tier purpose-driven organisation!

In this role you will shape, manage and implement the Society's ESG strategy, working cross functionally to influence ambition levels, policies, processes and practices to drive continuous improvement, and manage ESG reporting and communications, measures and disclosures.

Using your engaging nature you will form strong collaborative relationships to engage and motivate colleagues and other stakeholders to support our ambition to provide real help with real lives, seeking to further embed our strategy and improve our non-financial performance ratings.

About the role

The Social Purpose and Sustainability Manager will be responsible for:

  • Supporting the development, implementation and delivery of YBS’s ESG strategy and purpose ambitions, championing and monitoring progress across the Society.

  • Understanding industry best practice, conducting materiality assessments and stakeholder research and insight and working with industry experts, to identify and review the Society’s material ESG themes, shaping the ESG strategy in line with growing stakeholder expectations.

  • Working with the ESG Committee, the Strategy team, and senior leaders to ensure that ESG is embedded within the future corporate plan and business strategy.

  • Engaging with and supporting senior leaders and key stakeholders from across the business to drive progress against our ESG ambitions, establishing strong relationships with key individuals and departments.

  • Continuously monitoring best practice and trends in ESG and sustainability, specifically ESG reporting, disclosure legislation and upcoming regulation, ensuring YBS remains compliant, transparent and in line with industry expectations.

Your Experience

  • At least three to five years’ ESG/ Responsible Business experience.

  • Experience of driving the delivery of strategic ESG/ Responsible Business action plans.

  • Knowledge of ESG/ Responsible Business trends.

  • Ability to represent the SP&S team effectively at all levels of the business, including senior management.

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to converse and influence senior stakeholders effectively.

  • Strong organisational abilities with capacity to work on multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Experience in communications and report writing and presentation skills.
