Job Summary
IWM has recently created and committed to carrying out a new Digital Content Strategy with ambitious targets for audience growth.
The Social Media Officer will act as a bridge between IWM and the communities that we try to engage with. These are often audiences or groups of core consumers connected by a similar interest. The role will look to further establish our social media guidelines in accordance with broader IWM social media strategy.
Key duties
Working in-line with IWM’s Digital Content Strategy to produce both organic and paid content to engage existing and development audiences across social media. The Social Media Officer will also contribute to wider digital reporting, helping inform future content plans.
You will be a brand ambassador, engaging with potential customers and building relationships with existing ones. The role will look to gauge sentiment around the brand, using social listening tools to monitor feedback and engagement.
Reporting to the Social Media Manager, the Social Media Officer will work closely with the Digital Production Team and Digital Insight and Experience colleagues to identify both opportunities and risk among audiences. The role will also require collaborative working with teams around the museum, including Marketing and Communications, to understand and enact requirements arising from their strategies.
In addition, your duties will include:
Social Media Management
- Day-to-day management and monitoring of IWM profiles across all social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube.
- The use of social media tools including Sprout Social, Meta Business Suite, Supermetrics and Google Data Studio.
- Supporting IWM’s corporate goals and the KPIs of the digital content strategy, particularly as regards growing audience and financial sustainability
Content Creation
- Contribute to the content ideation and calendar process, including approvals to create optimised content for each distinct channel and audience.
- Ensuring all content is on brand and meets all corporate guidelines, whilst remaining impactful and engaging.
- Coordinating organic social activity with partner organisations and individuals.
Community Management
- Contribute to the daily community management across all channels, including the monitoring and moderation of comments, responses to direct messages and reviews.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders, including the Communications team to address any community management queries or requests, as well as reviews from the wider public.
- Reputation management and awareness of issues around IWM’s brand, reporting into Social Media Manager to manage any concerns that may arise.
Reporting
- Using Google Data Studio, Sprout Social and other data sources to assess the impact and efficiency of organic social media activity across the organisation.
- Monitor and report on key competitor activity within the sector.
- Use reporting to help employ a test, learn and refine approach to benefit future content.
