Social Media Manager
Communications and PA

Our social media channels reflect the University we are and are critical to helping to attract prospective students, employees, and research partners, as well as nurturing our community. We are looking to grow our social media engagement and put Surrey ahead of the competition.
The ideal candidate will have at least five years’ experience running social media for large or complex organisations and/or brands with successful results. This includes setting channel strategy, overseeing and producing engaging content, scheduling, and using data to improve performance.
You will have experience of managing digital marketing campaigns and using social as a critical part of building a customer or recruitment pipeline. You will demonstrate creativity and a performance-focused approach to managing communication channels, including a sound understanding of SEO (Search Engine Optimisation), web traffic metrics and keyword search. You will be used to working under pressure too, working to deadlines, and dealing with reputational issues.
As a manager, you will have experience of leading and managing a communications team in a fast-paced and complex environment, setting priorities, managing workloads, and nurturing professional development.
This role has line management responsibility for one team member, the social media content producer. The post-holder is expected to build a strong network across the University to build virtual teams, and to work collaboratively across team boundaries. This post demands a self-starter who is proactive and works collaboratively.
