Job description

NOCN Group are seeking to recruit x3 Business Development Managers (BDMs) to work on a Permanent basis as part of the Business Development and Marketing team.

x3 BDM positions available in the following areas: 1 x BDM London 1 x BDM Sheffield 1 x BDM Manchester

Purpose and Objectives:-

  • Effectively manage all the identified large strategic accounts for your designated geographic region (e.g. Employers, colleges, private training providers, LEPs local authorities and other education providers).
  • Grow and develop the qualifications, end point assessment (EPA), job cards, short courses and education and skills consultancy market for the NOCN Group in line with organisational targets.
  • Generate a range of sales and business development opportunities with employers and a range of training providers (e.g., schools, colleges, private training providers, adult and community learning providers, local authorities, LEPs and more).
  • Lead on a specific subject specialism to support the knowledge of the business wide Sales and Business Development Team (e.g., EPA, Access to Higher Education, Job Cards etc).
  • Be responsible for delivering presentations, where required, to develop and implement contracts for EPA.
  • Implement and manage across the geographic area the sales and business development strategies for each of the NOCN Group business functions.
  • Liaise with colleagues within other teams to ensure a high level of customer service is provided for all NOCN Group customers and stakeholders.

What will you be doing?

  • Deliver sales targets agreed in the business plan for your area.
  • Monitor and report on all sales and business development activity for your geographic region, reporting into the Group Director, Senior Leadership team and the Board.
  • Plan and prepare presentations on NOCN Group products to sell our service to employers and providers.
  • Communicate new product developments to prospective clients.
  • Ensure that sales income is increased in line with allocated annual business budget/organisational targets.
  • Proactively identify and develop opportunities for new streams of income from potential clients or contracts.
  • Facilitate the contracting process for EPA and other training and consultancy services.
  • Ensure to maintain up to date knowledge of NOCN Group’s portfolio of products and services to give accurate information and maximise sales income with all current customers and develop new customers.
  • Contribute stories to the newsletter and other NOCN Group publications as requested.
  • Attend events and workshops, as required, this may necessitate overnight stays.
  • Where required, oversee the development of marketing literature for relevant products and services, working very closely with the Marketing and Communications Team.
  • Contribute to the launch of new NOCN Group products and services working with the Marketing Team.
  • Deliver a high level of customer service to customers, both internal and external, as part of account management. Where necessary, liaise with colleagues from other teams to ensure operational efficiency for customers.
  • Ensure up to date knowledge of regulatory requirements relevant to the role.

About you:-

The ideal successful candidate will meet the following essential criteria:

  • Level 2 in Literacy and Numeracy;
  • Educated to Level 4 minimum, ideally in a related discipline (Award / Certificate / NVQ / Diploma / Higher Apprenticeship / HNC / CertHE);
  • Experience of working in education or related discipline;
  • Experience of proactive cold calling;
  • Recent experience of Account Management;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Desirable criteria:

  • Educated to degree level.
