Job summary
The Social Content Hub sits within the Digital & Content Team, but with strong connections and influence across the Communications Directorate and beyond, providing expert advice, guidance, training and content development in support of our multiple social media channels.
You will have the ability to think creatively and communicate using a wide range of established and emerging social media channels to target the right audiences. You will have a developed news sense, be organised and able to work in an often pressurised environment.
This post attracts a £2,000 Communications Pay Supplement, rising to £3,750 on completion of 12 months' successful service. This is paid in addition to your salary. Pay supplements are temporary payments designed to address recruitment and retention issues caused by market pressures and are subject to regular review.
Job description
- Draft and implement social media content plans.
Provide digital and social media support at high priority Ministerial events.
Update the Scottish Government’s social media channels which include: Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube.
Ensure content is of a high standard and is used effectively to meet strategic communications objectives.
Work with policy and news colleagues to develop stand-alone digital and social media assets – such as video clips, infographics, GIFs, and case studies.
Monitor digital and social media analytics to contribute to evaluation and inform future activity.
Carry out social media monitoring using keywords around high profile events.
Community management of social media channels including moderating comments and managing responses to direct messages.
Person specification
Essential Criteria
1. A proven track record as a social media manager.
2. Excellent understanding of the social media landscape including managing multiple channels.
3. Excellent judgement, a sharp nose for a story and the ability to prioritise under pressure.
4. Good oral communications skills combined with the confidence to deal with and influence people at all levels.
