Reporting to the SVP, Expedia for Business, Lodging Account Management, the VP Market Management (MM) EMEA will be a key member of the global Account Management Leadership Team. You will lead a continuing effort to build a sustainable leadership position with lodging partners throughout the EMEA region on behalf of Expedia. You will establish where to play and how to win strategies, while building organizational capability to accelerate Expedia, Inc.’s position as a thought-leader and first-call partner in the region. Near-term success and long-term growth will be demonstrated through accelerated revenue, sustainable profitability, and increased market share within the region.
What you'll do:
- Lead the development and execution of the regional strategic plan for Lodging Account Management in EMEA to ensure broad alignment behind priorities, develop relevant and desirable value proposition for Partners by market that build market share.
- Communicate pivotal initiatives and results to both the EMEA Market Management organization and more broadly across Expedia Group Brands In the region to secure commitment and alignment.
- Develop and implement marketplace and commercial initiatives with a strong eye on increasing margin opportunity, obtaining inventory and driving long term relationships with our supply partners
- Provide thought leadership to industry partners and participate in industry events and speaking opportunities; increase Expedia’s visibility within the external marketplace
- This role will be a core representative of EG in EMEA and will provide thought-leadership on regional EMEA business strategy. As a key member of the Lodging Account Management team, you will be the voice of EMEA relevant to our Lodging Account Management business.
- Monitor and successfully lead regional marketplace success with the core goal of exceeding revenue targets.
- Lead profitability for regions, ensuring Senior Directors, Directors. Area/Senior Market Managers have staffing and resources vital to achieve acquisition goals, and to effectively manage inventory, rates and supplier relationships.
- Drive relevant data sets and deliver action focused information to the assigned customer base
- As a member of the global Lodging Account Management leadership Team, play a key role in improving and scaling best in class operating processes (technology focused).

- Ability to go beyond the role and serve as the main stakeholder for all commercial functions in the region, irrespective of LOB
- You will combine demonstrated top-notch strategic skills and the passion to build / develop / empower an excellent team across several locations. To be able to fit within Expedia, you will need to be highly analytical and naturally inclined to get into the details and develop strong subject matter expertise. You will display strong self-confidence and will be energized by highly competitive market situations.
- Experience in EMEA markets is a key requirement.
- Developing strategy across a multi-country region with high level of complexity, calibrating a global strategy while playing to local opportunities & risks.
- Successfully leading teams across disperse locations.
- Understanding of technology and how it creates competitive advantage.
- Experience with a Tier One Strategy Consulting Firm is desirable
- Travel industry experience would be a plus but not a key requirement.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver strategies that supply measurable gains in market share, revenue and volume growth, and operational efficiencies. Articulate evolving priorities for the business with a 3-5 year horizon and incorporates understanding of relevant market and competitors.
- Strategic problem solver able to synchronize across diverse opportunities, combined with pragmatic, technical execution. Analytically minded approach with demonstrable negotiation and influencing skills. Integrate a variety of information and translates corporate strategy into relevant regional and country-level strategies.
- Think beyond immediate imperatives, applying critical thinking to a function or process, a product and market, a business unit or the organization at large. This involves strong business understanding, analytical and conceptual abilities and a capacity to translate ambiguity into strategy and then into a concrete action plan, imparting it to the organization along the way. Intrinsic curiosity and desire to continuously learn more.
- Proven track-record in the design, development and delivery of strategic commercial programs for large fast-paced multinational companies. Commercially impactful experience in strategic consulting preferred.
- Exceptional analytical, critical thinking and strategic problem-solving skills, with the ability to cut through complexity and turn high-level business requirements and opportunities into specific projects.
- Ability to envision and articulate a compelling future. Inspiring communication and storytelling skills; to present complex information simply in both small and large group settings.
- Proven ability to deal with ambiguity and work well in a fast-paced environment to meet deadlines within time constraints whilst maintaining the utmost attention to detail
