The Team
We have an exciting opportunity for a PR Manager to join our Marketing team. Reporting to the Head of Public Relations, the PR Manager will play a vital role in delivering initiatives designed to transform and elevate Public Relations in Aegon.
The Role
Aegon is looking to recruit a PR manager that will be responsible for promoting Aegon’s proposition across its channels. In addition to promoting specific business lines, a significant part of the role will be ensuring Aegon is viewed as a leading expert on long-term savings and pensions issues across a wide range of media. This will involve developing and implementing campaigns both around products and broader thought leadership issues and working closely with our Public Affairs team to anticipate and respond to the regulatory and economic news agenda relevant to Aegon. In addition, there will be an element of corporate communications on broader Aegon news as well as the day to day managing in-bound questions from the media.
Key responsibilities

Develop and implement a PR programme designed to promote Aegon’s pensions, investment and protection propositions across a broad range of media including key trade and national titles

Identify opportunities that allow Aegon to discuss broader pensions and savings issues which matter to our customers, employers and the advisers who support them

Support a programme of activity designed to keep Aegon spokespeople front of mind on a broad range of long-term savings and investment issues

Oversee and implement campaigns on key thought leadership topics such as Aegon’s focus on financial wellbeing

Manage in bound press questions in relation to our overall product offering, but also Aegon’s wider business

Ensure all press materials are compliant and are clearly scheduled

Identify reputational risks and develop appropriate press materials
Skills

Ability to create clear and engaging written materials

A confident communicator able to explain complex subject matter to journalists and senior stakeholders

Excellent judgement when it comes to understanding media risks and opportunities

The ability to work flexibly and reprioritise tasks according to urgency

A creative thinker able to identify multiple solutions to a problem
Knowledge
-
Strong understanding of traditional, online and social media and how it operates

A background in financial services is desirable, ideally with an understanding of the pensions, asset management and financial advice sectors
