About The Job Role - What We're Looking For

We're seeking an innovative, self-motivated, and creative Social Media Manager to join our team in a part-time capacity to begin with, with potential for a full-time position going forward. In this role, you'll be responsible for developing and delivering compelling social content across various channels and platforms. From collaborations to events and product launches, you'll play a pivotal role in supporting our brand projects.

Who are we?

Established in 2013 in partnership with Duke of Uke, London’s World Famous Ukulele Store, School of Uke is an inclusive, vibrant and dynamic ukulele tuition company that focuses on providing a fun and social music experience for all. Compact in size and with just four strings, the ukulele is simple, versatile and portable, and a great instrument for complete beginners to get started on easily.

Our mission is to introduce the ukulele to a diverse demographic of people, from absolute beginners to seasoned musicians, and to create a vibrant and socially engaged community where people can discover the joys and benefits of playing music together as part of a group.

Key Role Objectives - What you'll be responsible for:

  • Collaborate with the Duke of Uke and School of Uke team to establish a strong, independent brand identity that builds upon the existing value of Duke of Uke's social channels.
  • Devise and execute a comprehensive social media strategy for our new School of Uke Instagram and TikTok channels, as well as our existing Facebook and YouTube platforms.
  • Utilize Duke of Uke's social channels and email marketing to establish an initial audience base, laying the foundation for an aggressive growth and engagement strategy.
  • Develop sustainable and engaging video, photographic, and editorial content that resonates with our existing audience and entices new followers to embrace the exciting world of ukulele music.
  • Foster partnerships with like-minded brands and organizations, offering potential audience crossover and expanding our reach.
  • Identify and engage with influencers in the vibrant London scene, collaborating to create compelling content shared across their platforms and ours.
  • Forge innovative co-promotions and social content collaborations with venues to captivate our audience and keep them coming back for more.
  • Continually refine strategies and campaign ideas to enhance content and channel performance.
  • Manage and execute the posting schedule on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, and other relevant social media platforms for School of Uke.
  • Optimize all posts for optimal engagement during different times of the day, week, and weekends, while closely monitoring their performance.
  • Provide weekly progress reports, sharing insights and suggesting improvements to tone, style, and pacing.
  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee day-to-day social media activities, ensuring consistent quality and brand voice.
  • Craft creative and compelling copy that aligns with our brand guidelines and effectively engages our audience.
  • Deliver regular reports showcasing performance against set KPIs, including fan growth, engagement, and reach.
  • Drive KPIs through recommendations of engaging, shareable, and on-brand ideas.
  • Evaluate the brand's existing social media activity, making recommendations to leverage our online presence.
  • Stay abreast of social media trends, researching new ideas and channels to keep School of Uke at the forefront of social media innovations.
  • Collaborate closely with the Digital Marketing Assistant on the Paid Social strategy.
  • Utilize existing network relationships and build new connections with key influencers, media outlets, and platforms.

About You - Essential Skills & Requirements

  • Proven track record as a social media maverick, conquering the digital realm with ease.
  • Your on-screen charisma is magnetic, and you possess the ability to create captivating social media content that will genuinely resonate with our audience. You're not just a social media manager, you're an authentic influencer in your own right.
  • Expertise in influencer and social media marketing, specifically in the lifestyle and music industries.
  • Creative and innovative, with the essential video editing skills needed to create vibrant and captivating reels.
  • Passion for social media and staying up-to-date with the latest trends.
  • Exceptional communication and literacy skills, with a flair for crafting engaging and authentic copy, aligned with our brand voice.
  • Tech-savvy, proficient in social media scheduling tools like Meta Business Suite Planner, Later, Hootsuite, Canva, SocialFlow, CrowdTangle, and more.
  • Proficiency in social media management and analytics platforms.
  • Collaborative powerhouse, adept at working independently and driving engagement, sharing insights and elevating social media presence.
  • Familiarity with Google Suite, Photoshop and design tools.
  • While not mandatory, having a basic understanding of SEO will give you an extra edge.
  • Passionate about music and excited about the prospect of learning to play the ukulele at School of Uke!
