ShareWe are looking for a hardworking social media professional to join our team in the Department of Communications to drive forward our activity on the University's central social media channels.
The Role
Working closely with colleagues in Communications, Marketing and Recruitment, you'll be responsible for engaging and growing the University's community on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat and LinkedIn. This role will include creating and re-purposing content to ensure it meets the needs of our community, planning and delivering campaigns, working with student ambassadors to develop content, and reporting on the success of your activity.
This role is offered on a full time (36.5 hours per week) permanent basis.
Key skills and experience
You will have proven skills/experience of:
- Using social media for marketing and communications.
- Working on digital campaigns for a variety of audiences.
- Generating ideas and delivering social media content, including video and imagery.
- Copywriting.
- Knowledge of content marketing and social marketing techniques.
- Experience of using social media for customer service.
You will be able to communicate effectively and confidently to develop good working relationships. You should have excellent organisational skills, and be able to successfully manage your workload, as well as stakeholder expectations.
You’ll be open to new communications and marketing developments, and have the confidence to offer insights and to suggest and generate new ideas to ensure we offer relevant and engaging content to our audiences.

About the Department
The Department of Communications manages internal and external communications to enhance our local, national and international reputation and improve the experiences of students and staff. The social media team within the department is tasked with communicating to a wide and varied range of stakeholders and producing content for over 300,000 accounts across its social media channels. In 2021, the team was awarded Silver in the global CASE awards for its video content during the pandemic.
