Job description
This is an exciting opportunity fulfilling a dual role of completing Smart repairs on a range of vehicles as well as operating a diamond cut lathe.
The ideal candidate is an experienced body shop technician/painter and looking for a new challenge. The successful candidate should have a valid UK driving licence, be physically fit, well presented, friendly, customer focussed and most importantly work to a high standard!
Successful applicants should expect to work Monday to Friday with the occasional Saturday.
Additional requirements are as follows: -
- A self motivated individual and able to work on their own initiative
- Min 2 years paint experience
- Good knowledge and application of fillers.
- Able to paint a min of 2 vertical panels and blend
- Has great attention to detail
- Been customer facing in former roles
- Basic maths and English required
- Able to be flexible with hours
- Good time keeper
Whilst experience in operating a diamond cut lathe is preferable, it is not required and training will be provided. Once training has been completed, your day-to-day role will include but not limited to:
- Refurbishing stock wheels ensuring they are finished properly and in a timely manner.
- Removing the required wheel ready for refinishing as instructed by our internal systems
- Preparing the wheels for diamond cutting and or painting as per the detailed instruction, using appropriate tools.
- Operating a Diamond Cut Lathe.
- Using where appropriate the shot-blaster to key-up the alloy wheel.
- Using where appropriate the orbital sander to remove small chips/scuffs in the alloy wheel.
- Preparing the wheel for painting/lacquering.
- Updating internal systems on each stage of the wheels refurbishment process.
- Balancing every wheel prior to refitting back to the vehicle.
- Re inflating tyres to correct PSI.
- Ensuring the wheel nuts have been torqued to the recommended settings.
- Maintaining a clean and tidy working area at all times.
- Attending all training programmes as necessary and when instructed.
- Be responsible for best practice and repair methods for the wheel refurb process.
