Sleep-in nights Support Worker (No personal care)

Next Step Services is an ambitious supported living provider, offering supported accommodation 16- to 25-year-olds. The primary objective is to enable our young people to become emotionally stable and self-sufficient to live independently as well as ensuring they maintain a clean home environment. Next Step Services is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff to share this commitment.
About the role:
You will be based at our supported accommodation in Reading for 16 to 17 years-old. Your role will require you to support young people in our share living homes from 9pm until next day at 9am. Every house has a maximum occupancy of 5 young people. As part of your duties, you will need to do house checks to ensure the health and safety of our young people but entitled to sleep in for the majority of the shift.
All successful candidates offered employment will be subject to compulsory screening checks; this will include employment references and an enhanced DBS check.
Essential requirements are:
· Right to Work in the UK.
· 2 References.
· 1-year minimum any working experience required.
· No convictions (Enhanced DBS check required).
. Commute distance to Reading.

Desirable requirements are:
· Experience working with asylum seekers.
· Excellent verbal and written communication.
· Team worker
· IT literate (word, excel etc.)
· Strong work ethic including an organised approach to work with the ability to keep accurate records, willingness to comply with procedures and ability to keep calm when met with challenging situations.
Ideal candidates will also:
· Have experience working with young people aged between 16 & 18.
· Experience of working within a supported living environment or residential environment.
· An understanding of relevant legislation relating to the care of young people.
· Experience of working in partnership with Local Authorities and Health/Social Care professionals.
· Qualifications or Training: NVQ Level L3 – Health & Social Care/Children & Young People’s Workforce (desirable)NVQ Level L2 – Health & Social Care/Children & Young People’s Workforce (desirable)
