Site Supervisor – Telecoms
Leicester
What you will be doing:
An opportunity has arisen for a Site Supervisor to join the team at Galliford Try.
You will join our Telecoms Business Unit, which works predominantly within the UK’s Critical National Infrastructure market, focussing on the Wireless and Fixed Line Telecoms, Defence, Energy and Transport sectors.
The location of the role is Leicester, with the opportunity to travel UK wide between offices and sites.
In the role of Site Supervisor, you will take full responsibility for the supervision of the construction of Telecommunication sites ensuring you meet client and company performance expectations.
- Participate in creating a knowingly safe working environment.
- Undertake day to day supervision of Telecommunications sites including the supervision and monitoring of the site team and supply chain. Sites can be in a variety of environments including Street Works, Greenfield and Rooftop sites.
- Plan, control and monitor the progress of the works and coordinate the section(s) of the project as allocated.
- Act as Utility Services Coordinator, NRSWA Supervisor, Temporary Works Coordinator/Supervisor on site.
- Ensure any changes in scope (operations, commercial, programme or design) are captured and managed.
- Report to the Build Manager and commercial team on progress and performance.
- Take HSEQ responsibility for the delivery of the site including acting as behavioural safety coach.
- Complete site surveys at design stage to offer buildability support.
- Ensure Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS), Permit to Work systems, site inductions and safety briefings are correctly carried out.
- Resolve any unexpected technical difficulties and problems that may arise.
- Ensure and maintain strict quality control procedures.
- Ensure site diaries maintained.

You’ll be responsible for ensuring that the commercial function within the business unit effectively supports the operational teams in the implementation of health & safety policies.
About You:
To be successful in the role of Site Supervisor, you will be adept at site surveys, health, safety and sustainability management, approval of risk assessments and method statements, problem solving and negotiating.
We’re seeking somebody with previous experience within the construction industry with astute technical knowledge of the relevant standards, equipment and processes.
You will also:
- Have the ability to work safely.
- Be able to read & Interpret data, drawings specifications and schedules.
- Be highly organised and able to prioritise multiple workloads.
- Be adept at interfacing with site team, subcontractors, designer and the client.
- Have strong knowledge of CDM 15.
- Be commercially astute.
- Be able to interpret, extract and disseminate works information relating to program of works.
- Have proven leadership and delegation skills.
- Have advanced problem solving skills.
Working on site, we'd like you to have:
- SMSTS
- CSCS
- NRSWA Supervisor
- TWC (Preferred)
- 1st Aid (Preferred)
- Relevant Civil Engineering Experience skills.
