What you will be doing:
As a Site Mechanical Engineer:

Your role will include authoring First of Class procedures for build, testing and commissioning of the NSRP, from initial delivery of components to final testing of the platform.

You will also be expected to provide support to the site team and shipbuilder for all build and commissioning issues.

This will include review of defects, problems, emergent issues and concessions raised by the shipbuilder during the build and commissioning programme.

Your role will operate within a cross discipline team with multiple industrial partner organisations and therefore interpersonal and team building skills are vital.

Initially you will be required to follow a Site Training Plan. This provides the technical development required to be able to represent Rolls-Royce within on site Approval Groups. The curriculum covers external and internal courses and on the job training which leads to a formal oral qualification board.

Be educated to degree level, studying for a degree or equivalent with experience in an engineering discipline.

You will proactively drive for results, demonstrate creativity in problem solving, be comfortable with ambiguity, and have strong planning and organisational skills.

You will ideally have a detailed knowledge of the latest Rolls-Royce NSRP design.

The role requires an ability to represent Rolls-Royce independently and be comfortable within a shipyard environment, so strong people and collaborative skills.

A robust tolerance to different organisational behaviours will be required and be able to demonstrate the ability to collaborate with and influence key stakeholders, building relationships over long distances

Be autonomous one; with the ability to progress workload independently, supported via management steering sessions.

Have a strong capability to manage a changing environment, due to the nature of visits and events’ management.

Be a positive team player focused on working collaboratively and supporting the broader team to be at its best.

Be able to work with some ambiguity, understand the ‘end goal’ and breaking this out into tangible ‘steps’.

To work for the Rolls-Royce Submarines Business an individual has to hold a Security Check (SC) clearance without any caveats to that clearance. Rolls-Royce will support the application for Security Clearance if the individual does not currently already have this in place.
Due to the nature of work the Business conducts and the protection of certain assets a person has to be a UK national or in MoD approved cases a Dual National from a non ITAR.
