Job description

Are you an experienced Supervisor looking for a new challenge? If so, we have an opportunity to work across a number of sites throughout the South West region.

The opportunity

Our Supervisors provide a vital link in the management of our sites by ensuring that all construction activities on site are carried out efficiently and safely.

As a Supervisor, you will report to the Construction Manager and will be responsible for supervising and directing Wessex Water staff and sub-contractors, maintaining site health and safety, and making sure that environmental, quality and commercial procedures are followed.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • you will be contributing to the daily planning of the work with our Scheduling team
  • managing resources and working with subcontractors to improve methods of work on site
  • delivering toolbox talks or other training activities
  • liaising with suppliers and members of the public
  • ensuring that work is carried out within budget while maintaining the high-quality product we are known for.

What do I need?

We’re looking for someone with a positive and can-do attitude who has great management and communication skills to get the best out of the whole site team.

We are looking for a team player who has a passion for customer service and has the ability to lead, direct and coach a team, as well as planning and organising your own time, tasks and duties effectively.

You will need to possess good IT skills, as the role involves using our online systems for management, procurement and finance.

In addition, we are looking for:

  • relevant repair and maintenance experience
  • the ability to develop ideas which will improve performance and influence Senior Managers in decision making
  • the ability to manage contractors
  • the ability to deal with the poor performance of direct reports
  • Supervisor Streetworks (NRSWA) training
  • SMSTS experience
  • experience as a temporary works coordinator
  • CDM awareness.
