Site GPS Lead
Location: Montrose, UK
The Site GPS Lead role exists to lead the deployment and embed the GSK Production System at the site to deliver the business strategy and improve business performance across the scorecard (safety, quality, service, cost).
As a key member of the Site Leadership team (line report to the Site Director, dotted line report to the GPS Regional Lead) the GPS Lead is accountable for: -
- GPS being used to develop the capability of personnel to implement day to day continuous improvement activities.
- To ensure the day-to-day CI activities result in improvement support the goal of Zero Accidents, Zero Defects and Zero Waste.
- To lead the ‘self-assessment’ of the site vs. the GPS maturity matrices and to lead to site to close any gaps.
- To coach / train the site teams in GPS.
Add value to patients and the business by driving a zero-waste supply chain and making efficiencies, including the use of digital, data and analytics tools in conjunction with traditional Lean practices.
Provide direction for L&D department regarding site capability strategy. Agreeing L&D initiatives and priorities.
Direct administration and communication needs for the site through the admin team.

Key Responsibilities
- Work with Site Director and SLT to identify and agree on the GPS implementation in alignment with the site strategy deployment. Drive the site strategy process aligned to Value Stream/Waste mapping.
- Lead and be hands on in day-to-day deployment of the GPS as well as all related improvement activities at site level (business impact on safety, quality, cost, people and innovation).
- Ensure a robust GPS system is in place and track progress of the site GPS deployment roadmap and self-assess the site GPS maturity level. Report on all required data to central teams as required. Lead a GPS Council.
- Teach, train, mentor, coach at all site level in GPS Basics and Lean tools and techniques.
- Drive/develop capability of the Site Leadership Team and all leaders on site to lead continuous improvement frameworks and other CI activities.
- Role model GPS skills and behaviours and drive the right CI mindset & behaviours / ways of working in the site.
- As a member of the Site Leadership team, play a key role in supporting the Site Director manage the site.
- Ensure a quarterly Accelerator is delivered and support site to plan and implement.
- Accountable for the L&D team on site with the L&D manager reporting into GPS Lead.
- Define capability priorities ensure learning and development needs of the site are built into the site strategy. Ensure L&D projects at site level have been executed in line with site requirements.
- Ensure admin resource is coordinated to meet the requirements of the site with site support coordinator reporting into GPS Lead.
- Provide direction on communications for the site working with the Engagement Lead

- Experience within a manufacturing site
- Experience in running a department, proven people skills to drive performance.
- Continuous improvement mindset, with the ability to adapt to site requirements
- Ability to speak with credibility to gain buy in form key stakeholders on and off site
- Continuous improvement within the GPS framework is the recognised way of working within GSK and the job holder must be able to demonstrate expertise in this area
- Delivery of site results, appreciate how, when and where to apply continuous improvement
- Good people skills are essential and the ability to influence other SLT members
