An exciting opportunity has arisen, for a Band 6 Sister/Charge Nurse to join our multi disciplinary team within the Same Day Emergency Care Unit.
The unit offers a dedicated Multi-disciplinary Team including; Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Advanced Nurse Practitioners and a robust Medical Team. We receive patients from the Emergency Department, GP surgeries and specialist clinics. Our team includes a mix of Senior Sisters, Sisters/Charge Nurses, an established team of Band 5 Registered Nurses, Nursing Associates, a team of Healthcare Support Workers and apprentices.
Our SDEC Unit consists of 2 waiting rooms and a 6 bedded assessment bay. We aim to aid patient flow and work closely with the Emergency Department to create a positive patient journey.
You will be required to work a variety of shifts including weekend working. The shifts are as follows:
Day 08.00-20.00/ 10.00/22.00
Sat: 10.00-18.00

We pride ourselves on developing our staff and you will be supported by our Departmental Education Nurse. Dedicated training support enables us to provide you with an excellent induction, support with revalidation and ongoing training package. Working on SDEC you will see patients with a wide variety of conditions and will gain experience from many specialities.
Applicants will need to be dynamic, motivated, reliable and flexible with desirable post registration experience in an emergency assessment area. You should be able to demonstrate leadership skills including managing staff and taking charge of an area whilst supporting junior staff on your shifts.
There will be an expectation that you will support the Senior Sisters/Charge Nurses along with other members of the Senior Team. Excellent communication and organisational skills are key, as is a commitment to delivering high quality care to patients. All Nurses will be trained in specialist clinical skills to enhance the patient’s journey and to enable them to work in all areas of the unit.
