Shop Assistant - HAPPA Tack and Gift Shop

21 hours per week (Rota basis, some flexibility needed) -working every other weekend

Horses and Ponies Protection Association is proud of its selection of new and second hand equestrian items and farm themed toys and gifts. Every purchase supports HAPPA’s mission of ‘Giving a Second Chance to Neglected, Abused and Unwanted Equines.

OVERALL PURPOSE OF JOB

To serve all customers in the shop and represent charity's brand at Shores Hey Farm. Assisting in providing a unique shopping experience with a warm welcome to supporters of the charity and equestrians. Offering a friendly disposition and a warm welcome for all visitors to site.

PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serving customers in the onsite shop.
  • Keeping the shop area and display areas clean and tidy.
  • Keep price tags and promotional material up to date.
  • Dealing with all enquiries in a professional and courteous manner in person and on the telephone or via e-mail.
  • Answer questions about the products sold including equestrian items.
  • Support shoppers with purchases of equine items by answering questions and offering advice.
  • Restock shelves and display areas.
  • Take telephone payments.
  • Be proficient in the use of the till and the HAPPA debit machine.
  • To record stocking levels and assist with stock takes.
  • Rotate stock and report low stock levels.
  • Accept and process horse rugs for washing.
  • Sort through second hand donated item for resale in the second-hand tack shop.
  • On occasions assist with the sorting and pricing of donated items.
  • Answer all product and services questions.
  • To cash up the till daily and ensure all monies are stored safely.
  • Keep up to date with current promotions and be able to provide visitors with up to date information.
  • Assist with processing, picking and packing orders.
  • Process deliveries.

The successful applicant will have: -

Exemplary customer care skills. A passion for equine welfare. An understanding of equine equipment. A friendly, polite, manner. A commitment to be an ambassador for the brand. The confidence to upsell products.

The role requires someone with an understanding of all social media channels and experience of using meta business, these skills are desirable.
