Shift Trader
Contract type: Permanent
Working hours: Full time, shift pattern
Location: Whilst your base office will be in London, we’ll support you to work flexibly from home (providing a suite of IT equipment) for night and weekend/bank holiday shifts
Closing date: 7th May
Salary: Circa £70k, depending on experience + shift allowance and excellent benefits
Join EDF as a Shift trader and you will play a crucial role in maximising the value of EDF Energy’s power and gas positions in the spot and prompt market. Directly optimising the battery fleet, CCGT, gas peakers and supporting the management of nuclear, wind and solar generation into the Wholesale Market.
Operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, the Shift trader is required to work a shift rota which includes working weekends, bank holidays and overnights.
The opportunity…
As an experienced member of the Short-term trading team, you will be responsible for the optimisation of the flexible assets including batteries, CCGT and gas peakers, trading power, gas intraday and day ahead auctions and management of the EDF Energy portfolio including wind generation, solar generations, and other embedded generation types through to delivery.
You will facilitate the off-take agreement to Centrica for existing nuclear and ensure that all EDF Energy’s gas and power license conditions are upheld.
Working closely and collaboratively with the margin teams, you will ensure that the prompt hedging strategies are executed, the value of EDF Energy’s margin team is maintained and the portfolio is optimised to the benefit of EDF Energy as a whole.
You will also be responsible for the development and upskilling of less experience colleagues as part of your key objectives with a view to improving the wider team performance.
What we’re looking for…
We’re looking for an experienced trader with the proven ability to operate with integrity and confidence and make considered commercial decisions under tight deadlines.
The successful candidate will have strong numerical, analytical and IT skills with a track record of accurate and high-quality work. Experience using coding languages such as Python, VBA or similar is also advantageous.
As a Shift Trader, you will be a team player with strong communication skills with the ability to demonstrate initiative, influencing skills and provide mentoring to trainee traders.
