We are looking for a talented Production Manager to become an integral part of our new, exciting, state-of-the-art net-zero factory with Ibstock Plc. Our new factory will be something very new and different, highly automated with significant investment having been made in some of the latest technological innovations and it will be able to produce more than 47 million brick slips every single year! However, building the factory is only part of the story because in order to bring it to life, we need to find the very best people to work in it!
JOB PURPOSE
As the Production Manager, you will be an inspirational leader of a multi-skilled team, who role models our core values at all times. Optimising the potential of the production team, the raw material supply chain and the asset base, you will develop a culture focused on both sustainable and continuous improvement, where our people and processes deliver exceptional performance.
ROLE OVERVIEW
- Work with the factory team to create a strategic plan for the site.
- Deliver visible leadership and engagement of the team to create and embed a culture of high performance and development.
- Act as a role model of Ibstock’s values and behaviours.
- Plan and implement training and development, including recruitment and succession plans to create a flexible, effective multi-skilled team.
- Coach and develop your team to maximise their strengths, and to close any development gaps.
- Ensure the production team adopts the Ibstock Management System (IMS), whilst developing a continuous improvement mind-set that ‘challenges the status quo’.
- Collate and analyse factory data to drive continuous improvement, develop and achieve key targets and objectives.
- Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for any relevant non-conformances at the factory.
- Implement and sustain 5S standards within the factory environment.
- Manage production process to deliver departmental performance measures within financial, quality and environmental constraints.
- Ensure raw materials are correctly stored and clearly identifiable.
- Identify opportunities for standardisation or operations to simplify knowledge requirements.
- Liaise with Engineering Team to prioritise work to match production requirements.
- Deliver Toolbox talks (TBT’s).
- Has knowledge of current Health, Safety, Environmental and Employment legislation.
- Is an outstanding operational leader, who is flexible and meets challenge with a pragmatic and resilient approach.
- Has strong influencing and engagement skills demonstrated through values based leadership and role modelling positive leadership behaviours.
- A natural coach and team builder with exceptional interpersonal skills who enjoys developing and leading others to improve their performance.
- Is able to develop a capable and multi skilled team.
- Can implement and drive performance improvement using Continuous Improvement tools & techniques.
- Is financially competent.
- Has the ability to use IT systems effectively.
