Sexual Health Nurse Clinical Lead/Manager
The Community Services Business Unit inNorthumbria Healthcare NHS Trust delivers a wide range of health services to meet the needs of local people. As part of the continued service development programme we have recently built the capacity to offer new openings to support the Sexual Health Services across Northumberland and North Tyneside.
One such role is the Sexual Health Nurse Clinical Lead/Manager.
An exciting opportunity has been created for a motivated and enthusiastic leader to join the Senior Management Team within the Integrated Sexual Health Service. To support the delivery of high-quality services, we wish to enhance our nurse leadership with additional expertise and capacity. This role will appeal to skilled and innovative Sexual Health Nurses who are passionate about supporting the delivery of first-class services and are excited to contribute at a broader level. The successful applicant will provide professional and clinical leadership and supervision to sexual health nursing staff. You will actively contribute to the vision, values and strategy of the service, whilst achieving objectives and performance targets and ensuring good corporate and clinical governance.
Good organisational and time management skills are essential, along with excellent interpersonal skills and positive teamworking to effectively work collegiately to support the continual evolution of the clinical team.
We manage three major locality hospitals at North Tyneside, Wansbeck and Hexham, plus a number of smaller community hospitals and clinics from Tynemouth to Berwick on Tweed, in addition to our state-of-the-art Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital, the first of its kind in England. We also care for people in their homes and provide services from facilities in local communities such as health centres. We give people greater choice and control over their care to help them to live independently at home and avoid hospital admission where appropriate. The post holder will:
- Be responsible for operational management and clinical leadership across Northumberland and North Tyneside Integrated Sexual Health Service.
- Contribute to the achievement of the overall strategic vision by pursuing best practice and ensuring excellence in the delivery of clinical services.
- Deputise for the Service Manager or relevant professional lead periodically.
- Ensure the highest standard of safe, clinical care through the provision of effective leadership and management of clinical staff.
- Provide a visible, accessible and authoritative presence across the service, ensuring patients, their families and members of the multidisciplinary team can gain assistance, advice and support. v
- Role model compassionate and inclusive leadership in order to shape the creation of a collective leadership culture within the Trust: demonstrating a consistent leadership style which (a) engages, enables and empowers others (b) uses coaching to promote ownership of learning and quality improvement and (c) facilitates team working and collaboration within teams / departments and across organisational boundaries.
- Take shared responsibility with the Senior Management team for Clinical Governance.
- Provide a focus for audit, research and development, initiating and facilitating an evidence-based culture.
- Be responsible for supporting the development of nursing in the Integrated Sexual Health Services, working in partnership with key colleagues and partner organisations.
