Main Duties
Teaching Sewing And Dressmaking Classes
Skills and Experience Required
Experienced sewing and dressmaking freelance tutor to teach beginners to advanced sewing and dressmaking womenswear adult classes at a small independent sewing school starting as soon as possible.
You will ideally need to have proven experience in teaching small groups (approx. 6 people), with proficient industry experience as a pattern cutter/dressmaker. You should have an outgoing, friendly and professional manner, have heaps of patience and be able to work to specific time frames.
You will need to be available to teach one weekend a month and occasional weekday evenings (6:30pm-9:30pm) and morning (10.30am-1.30pm) classes to begin with, with the possibility of working more shifts during busier months. The position is suitable for someone looking for a flexible second job.
Skills needed: Flat and form pattern cutting, ability to adapt and alter commercial, multi-size patterns to fit individual measurements. Ability to work with both woven and stretch patterns and fabrics, good fabric knowledge and experience with working with a variety of fabrics, strong construction and finishing skills, excellent communication skills, excellent time management skills, highly reliable and organised.
