Job description
To assist the Directorate Managers, Head of Therapies and Professional Leads to develop and deliver high quality patient/service, user focused and cost-effective pathways and services, meeting the requirements of our Commissioners and Trust’s Annual Business Plan. To assist the Directorate Managers, Head of Therapies and Professional Leads in providing and developing a working environment and open culture which fosters high morale and commitment among all staff and promotes their well-being, professional and personal development. To support the business planning processes within the Care Group To set and review standards of inpatient and outpatient based services continuously, in line with the national performance standards, local contractual requirements, activity, and financial targets To play an active role within the Therapies Management Team, participating in the full range of the Directorate tasks. Support the administration team, ensuring they provide effective management of the clinical administration service. To ensure the efficient organisation of services, co-ordinating leave with the Head of Therapies, Professional Leads, Directorate Manager, and other service managers in order to support the delivery of service standards. Attend relevant departmental meetings within the Trust to represent Therapies and the Directorate and provide updates on various issues e.g. service delivery, HR issues, health and safety matters, security and estates issues. To identify and lead change management and redesign projects to achieve access standards The Royal Berkshire Hospital achieved Foundation Trust status on 1stJune 2006. It was the first Foundation Trust in the South Central Strategic Health Authority. The Trust has a successful track record of delivering high quality acute medical and surgical services for 500,000 patients across West Berkshire, an area extending from Newbury in the west to Henley-on-Thames in the east, and including Wokingham and parts of Hampshire to the south and parts of Oxfordshire to the north. The Trust is one of the largest general hospital Trusts in the country and is Reading’s biggest employer. The Trust was based in two District General Hospitals: the Royal Berkshire Hospital and Battle Hospital in Reading, until a £132 million Treasury-funded building programme consolidated the two hospitals onto one site. The hospital provides all those services normally associated with a very large District General Hospital. The hospital provides services on a single site for all the major specialities including Accident and Emergency, Trauma and Orthopaedics, Intensive Care, Gynaecology and Obstetrics, Genitourinary Medicine, Ophthalmology, ENT, Maxillo-Facial surgery, paediatrics (including a NICU), general medicine (including all major medical specialities including CCU, HASU, renal unit, ITU and gastroenterology), radiotherapy and oncology, and all the general surgical specialities.
