Job description
Peterborough Youth Justice Team are excited to be recruiting for two Senior Youth Justice
Officers to join the Service. Rated ‘Good’ with ‘Outstanding Features’ in 2020 HMIP Inspection, the Team are looking for candidates with strong experience of working with children who have offended, victims and those at risk of exploitation.
The successful candidates will be required to demonstrate excellent knowledge of current
legislation and procedures relating to Youth Justice and Children’s Services. They will also have a strong understanding of contextual safeguarding and have a proven ability to work with this approach to extra-familial harm. They will be able to demonstrate knowledge of effective risk management and the ability to respond to the diversity needs of Service Users.
The successful candidates will also have knowledge of Children’s Social Care, restorative justice, and preventative work. The two posts are perhaps particularly exciting for talented colleagues looking to progress, gain management experience or seeking new challenges whilst still working directly with children.
The post holder will have substantial experience in Youth Justice and the ability to work flexibly and creatively. This post is also eligible to access a nine-day working fortnight.
We are proud to serve the diverse communities of Peterborough and want our workforce to reflect this diversity, which we believe is beneficial for our employees, the organisation and the communities we serve.
Appointment to this post will be subject to the outcome of an Enhanced Disclosure obtained through the Disclosure and Barring Service. The Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
