Senior Travel Agent / Consultant

Oneworld Travel has just entered its 20th year of operation, and there has never been a more exciting time to join! We are an independent, high street retail business and have stores located across Yorkshire.
We are looking to hire a highly experienced and hard-working senior travel agent / consultant for our Yarm Branch. Their role will be to determine clients’ needs and create suitable travel packages, organise trips from beginning to end, including transport, accommodation and extras, and provide the utmost quality of customer service.
Our ideal candidate will have:
- 2+ years of experience as a travel agent / consultant, Global Distribution System experience preferred
- Exceptionally strong sales skills
- Ability to work in an extremely busy environment dealing with clients per day
- Very strong organisational / prioritising skills, with the ability to juggle tasks
- Very strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Very strong attention to detail with the ability to catch and rectify mistakes
- IT skills, including working knowledge of the full Microsoft Office range and other software

What you will do:
- Diagnose customer needs to suggest and sell suitable travel services
- Organise travel from beginning to end with post travel customer care
- Research various destinations / transportation / packages
- Assist and train less experienced colleagues
- Take payments and carry out daily banking
- Prepare promotional materials to sell itinerary packages
- Handle unforeseen problems and complaints
- Attend training / conferences to maintain familiarity with tourism trends
- Create and update electronic records of clients
- Maintain relationships with key persons
- Keep and file financial statements and other documents
- Reach shop and individual commission and enquiry conversion targets
- Create content for travel deals, social media and newsletters
- Stand in for senior management where necessary
- General office administration
- Any other duties as required and commensurate to the post
How we work:
- Travel between three Yorkshire branches is occasionally required.
- Each full-time staff member works 39.5 hours over five of the seven days each week.
- The Wakefield branch is open seven days a week. Yarm staff are sometimes required to work in Wakefield; this includes some weekends.
